What is a Sonic Groover?

What is a Sonic Groover?

Posted by Caitlin Davis on 17th Jan 2024

The Sonic Vinyl Groover & Trimmer Tool is used by flooring professionals to make a u-shaped groove along the join between two sheets of vinyl, before welding. The sonic groover has both a front and rear blade, which allows you to cut cleanly from wall-to-wall without leaving messy and unwanted pieces behind. You can find replacement blades here.

Why should I choose the Sonic Vinyl Groover?

The compact Sonic Vinyl Groover & Trimmer is a two in one meaning that you don’t need to use additional trimming knives and guides when trimming down and neatening your weld rod. Just simply trim using the built-in trimmer. The Sonic Vinyl Groover and Trimmer is also very lightweight and portable compared to other vinyl groovers on the market, meaning an easy and versatile experience.

What's the difference between the Sonic Groover and a Leister Grooving Machine?

The Leister Grooving Machine cuts grooves into a variety of floor coverings at high two stage cutting speeds. It has an adjustable guide roller for accuracy and cuts as close to the edge as possible. The groover machine cuts welding grooves into thick and tough floor coverings made of PVC-P, PE and linoleum. The tool glides on three rollers and cuts a uniform grooving depth, even at high speeds.

Whereas the Sonic Groover is handheld, which makes for a slightly more versatile piece of kit. However, it's lightweight, compact and portable so perfect for day to day and traveling. It also has replaceable blades so it's likely to last you a lengthy amount of time with the correct maintenance.
