How Do You Remove Laminate Flooring?

How Do You Remove Laminate Flooring?

If you are wanting to replace your laminate flooring, follow this quick and simple guide. Laminate flooring often lasts 15-25 years on average so you may start to recognise deterioration around this point. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced professional, removing old laminate flooring is simple when following this guide.

Tools required
Removing laminate flooring
  1. The first step is to put on the recommended PPE, which are safety goggles, gloves and knee pads.
  2. Next, remove the skirting boards around the edge of the room. The best way to do this is using the curved end of the claw hammer and use it on an angle between the skirting board and the wall before gently levering the claw hammer, which should loosen the skirting board enough to gently pull off.
  3. Then, using the curved edge of the claw hammer, lift the laminate plank by using it at a 45 degree angle in between the plank and the floor. This should lift the planks simply.
  4. Finally, if you are having difficulty lifting the planks using this technique, it is highly likely that the laminate boards are stuck down with adhesive. If this is the case, a heat gun can be used to soften the grip of the adhesive to make the planks easier to remove.
