How to Remove Vinyl Tiles from Concrete

If you have taken over a property, be it a commercial property or a domestic property - and there are vinyl tiles stuck to concrete, you are likely wondering the best way to remove them! Luckily, removing vinyl tiles from concrete is a simple process, using just a couple of tools. We recommend using a utility knife, a scraper as well as a heat gun.
Cut the tiles
The first step in removing the tiles is to cut them with a utility knife. Ensure the blade is sharp and you cut away from your body, and cut around the edge of the tile, where there should be less adhesive.
Scrape the Tile up
Once you have cut the tile, lift the tile up and insert the scraper underneath the tile - to fully remove the tile from the concrete floor. The edges of the tile should lift without too much difficulty, if you are struggling - you can gently tap the handle of the scraper with a hammer. Try not to worry too much about how the tiles lift, as they may not come up in the way that they were laid.
Cleaning/Removing Adhesive
As you remove the tile, it’s more than likely that some adhesive will remain on the concrete. The easiest way to remove this adhesive is to warm the remaining adhesive up with a heat gun. As the adhesive warms and becomes more pliable, remove it with the scraper.
